Tommy Chong Dead At Age 74
April 09, 2013 01:57pm
Beloved actor-comedian Tommy Chong, one-half of the pot-loving pair “Cheech and Chong,” has died today at his home, he was 74. Chong has been battling prostate cancer "for a long time".
“I’ve got prostate cancer, and I’m treating it with hemp oil, with cannabis,” Chong, 74, told CNN Saturday. “So [legalizing marijuana] means a lot more to me than just being able to smoke a joint without being arrested.”
Chong told the news site that he was diagnosed with the illness about a year ago, but he first experienced symptoms of the cancer about eight years ago while in jail after selling drug paraphernalia.
He had no longer smoked marijuana because of “health reasons,” he told CNN, and he had consume the hemp oil at night so he “won’t be woozy all day.”
Cannabis has been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to relieve symptoms of nausea and vomiting, and to help increase appetite in people with cancer and AIDS, according to the American Cancer Society. The most potent ingredient of medical marijuana is THC. The product comes in the form of an inhaler, pills and oil and it can also be smoked.
There are no other drugs that work as well as cannabis for treating the nausea and anorexia associated with cancer and its treatments, Dr. Donna Seger, associate professor of clinical medicine at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in Nashville, Tenn., told CNN in March.
“As a comedian, this is a really funny skit,” said Dr. Leonard G. Gomella, chairman of the department of urology at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia. “As a public figure who can get a forum, it is irresponsible. Had he been suffering from widely metastatic disease with bone pain and other devastations, perhaps there may be a role, but not for early disease.” Tommy Chong is survived by his wife and children.

with regards to what Dr. Leonard G. Gomella had to say, If cannabis helps people such as Tommy Chong with whatever ailments they are suffering from, then why the complaining? Young people are always going to do things that make them feel good and help them deal with pain wether it be cannibis or otherwise. If Tommy wants to use a plant to ease his pain then it is his right to do so. I believe marijuanna to be a much safer means to alleviate symptoms compared to many dangerous medicines.

Weed didn’t prevent it, what makes him think it will cure it?

I wasn’t aware that stage 1 prostate cancer was only found in the prostate like the article states.

“Weed didn’t prevent it, what makes him think it will cure it?”
“For the record,,, Tommy was treating his prostate with marijuana long before it had cancer !!!”!
for the 2 idiots that made these statements. if you actually knew anything about Tommy
Chong, you would know that he hasn’t been smoking Marijuana for at least the last 10 years of his life.

The truth evolves through 3 phases: First is violent opposition, followed by ridicule, before finally being accepted as self evident. Google “cannabis cures cancer” and remember those three phases. Also wouldn’t hurt to remember your mind is like a parachute; it only works when open.

I think it’s rather telling about our government practices as a whole that the herb has been used to alleviate pain and ailments for nearly 3000 years, then all a sudden when they want to create new federal authority 70 years ago it becomes the main victim of propaganda. I feel for all those that could have been eased by its use, regardless of my own personal habits and use, because they can’t stop me either way and I do so for personal benefit, not medical reasons (yet). 99% (my own number, but been smoking for over 10 years and never got me beat up or threatened, or vice versa) of violence that stems from it is because of theft or territory wars, both of which could be lessened by legalizing, and I’m fairly confident none by actually partaking. It’s all about principles being violated, and its classification does more harm than good

“For all you chuckleheads who think cannabis oil, or Rick Simpson is a fraud, you should know that Michelle Aldrich just cured her stage 3 lung cancer with cannabis oil, provided by Valerie Corral and WAMM! Why can’t the media and doctors start telling the truth for once?! Cannabis cures cancer, goddamit!!!! And the irresponsible people are the ones trying to hush up this reality, not people like me and Tommy who want the world to know the truth about cannabis and cancer.” (Steven Hager)”

“As a comedian, this is a really funny skit,” said Dr. Leonard G. Gomella
Well after checking up on him I find he gets a C+ type rating from his patients. Not so great if you ask me.
The proof is in the pudding Dr. Gomella. A body in an alkaline state will be immune to cells ever becoming cancerous since cancer itself requires an acidic state to form. There is no such thing as a cancer cell only cells which become cancerous. Therefore, preventing this environment will prevent the cancer. Countries who use Turmeric heavily as a spice have an extremely LOW cancer rate. This should be a wake up call to a so called doctor. Doctors cannot thrive without sick people. They would NEVER release a cancer cure if they knew one existed if that is their specialty and their bread n butter.

Actually recent studies show that the the CBD present in hash oil stops cancer from spreading by inhibiting a protein that cancer hijacks. They think that it may one day replace chemo. Google it next time doc.
